Didn't do us any favors. We were stuck in the middle of nowhere South Dakota. We were grateful to have been able to pull into a gas station in Chamberlain, SD. The mechanic there confirmed our worst nightmare; transmission was shot. He called the closest he knew, Dale's A1, they said they'd send their tow guy, since they'd be doing the repair we wouldn't have to pay for towing. We were towed an hour to Mitchell, SD and when we arrived were told we had to pay the tow truck, because their guy hadn't been available. Strike one: we were told we wouldn't have to pay and then AFTER being towed: you have to pay! Are you kidding me!
I had a transmission service here Monday. Very satisfied was with all. Seems to be run by skilled people who care about skill and customers.
I would highly recommend Dale's if you have any problem as tiny as needing your oil changed to a complete over haul on your transmission! My family ran a gas station convenience store for 17 years and anything that my dad couldn't fix himself as far as rebuilding a complete trany, we sent it Dale's. I continue to take my own vehicles here for regular maintenance to major repairs. Daren, Devin, Dustin, and crew go above and beyond to help fix the problem! Even when you don't know what the problem is they help you figure it out and take care of it!
We were happy to pay for their services...until we got the final bill and realized they were completely screwing us over because of our dire situation. I want to use much stronger words to describe how awful, and degrading and dirty we felt after dealing with these people. They were in complete control and they knew it, they had us right where they hoped to, and the sad part was we weren't the only ones stuck, in the middle of nowhere, SD being completely taken advantage of by a family, that would turn around and use the ill-gotten money for their children. How do I know this? I called my cousins, who happen to be master mechanics, and were told just how much a ride they took us on. Makes me sick. Yet, I know it'll turn around to bite them back. One day his wife and child(ren) will be stranded on the side of the road and karma will strike. Its my only solace in this horrendous experience. If you have to be towed, pay the extra to be towed to Rapid City or Sioux Falls...don't touch this company. I esp loved the military pictures they had posted...there's no way I'd post pictures of my grandfather if I ran a company like this. Shame on Dale's A1.

They took the car in and looked it over, confirmed the prognosis and said they wouldn't finish till the next day. We asked if they recommended a hotel, food, anything? They vaguely pointed down the torn up (from construction) street and apparently meant take your pick. (I've had car repairs, on this trip actually and it was in Casper, WY. They not only had deals with hotels, they called for a shuttle for us). We figured we'd have to get our suitcases and walk down the street looking for a hotel, because they also didn't have a loaner car. You have to understand what we were staring down here; the construction had the entire street torn up, 2 lane road all dirt and rocks. We had my spouse and two children. Finally,they relented and gave us someone's 1970's station wagon (think Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase). We were grateful for anything. As we sat there waiting for the repairs on the station wagon, so we'd have transportation, they were taking pictures of his daughter for riding trophies she'd won...there were massive amounts of trophies, awards etc... I realized at that moment it was our money paying for her lessons and who knew what else.
Best place on earth. First rate crew that has taken care of me on multiple occasions.
